THE RISING SUN
BLUES IN C
Remember that Henry Mancini wrote Moon River in 3/4 or "waltz" time. So make sure you play it: ONE two three ONE two three ONE two three ONE two three...
The tenor guitar sounds great in
the key of F, and with this song you not only get the open
strings ringing, but you have to go up the neck and work your
way back down to get, what are essentially piano voicing or
orchestral type voicing, which is another reason why "four is
more". You cannot get this type of
movement on a traditional guitar. Our fingers are not long
enough to be able to stretch from the bottom of the guitar to
the top. On the tenor guitar such voicing are easily possible. I
think that after you strum "Moon River" a few times you'll will
appreciate, even more, what a great instrument you have.
